I just love this smiley little guy and that hair! We always talk about this because Ben has had a full head of hair since birth and has kept it all. When we saw him after a few months, he had tripled in size and that chestnut brown baby hair had changed to a thick blonde fringe. We still can't get over the number of haircuts he has already had in his 11 months. Ben really is the most pleasant, content little boy, flashing his huge grin when anyone walks into the room. This month is special. You only turn the Big One once. So, I believe in my heart of hearts, that it is a mother's right of passage to dress them up and let them smash a cake! But seriously, is there really anything cuter than a happy baby, full of birthday cake? I think not. Feast your eyes on a few of my favs from Ben's cake smash! Happy 1st Birthday Ben!
This is one of the happiest little boys I've seen! He is also the spitting image of his Daddy, I can't get over the likeness! Leo loved hamming it up, as we watched him and laughed. He was keeping busy crawling, kneeling and dancing. It was all fun until we tried to make him eat cake! Haha. Some kids just don't like it. My first two kiddos wouldn't eat cake at this age. Of course, they have caught on and figured out cake is delicious! Leo was having a great time knocking his personal cake over and squishing the icing around in his hands, but he did not want to eat it!! I've never seen Leo cry, until we tried to make him eat his birthday cake! Poor guy. He was still so cute! The world was good again once he crawled away and Leo was back to doing his happy dance! Happy first birthday little Leo!
How is our little peanut already one year old?! She is walking, trying to repeat words, clapping and not wanting to sit down. Ever. Not even in the tub or high chair, and especially not while at Wegman's or Target. This is one busy little girl. She was sick, teething and has scabs on the tops of every single toe from Joey taking her for a ride in the red push car, but she performed. Come on, we all knew she'd be fine with a cake in front of her. If there's one thing P like to do, it's eat! She walks around the house screaming MY with her hand out whenever she hears a package opening or someone in the kitchen. She is something!
Things I'd like to remember:
She has 4 teeth. The top 2 teeth are coming in going different directions, like East and West.
She loves playing rough with the boys and is not afraid to pile jump when she sees an opportunity.
She smiles and does a little dance when she hears a song she likes.
Has a few words: Dada, My, Mama, Bubba, Ow.
Her favorite item is "Pinky," her pink blanket that she pulls out of her crib and rubs up to her nose when she's tired.
She sucks her tongue to soothe herself and go to sleep.
Loves to sleep in her crib, definitely the easiest baby to put to bed. She doesn't make a peep.
Loves any type of ball or sword the boys leave behind.
Favorite thing to do is to go up the stairs or roll away while you are changing her diaper.
Happy Birthday baby girl!! We may have to call you the baby forever, even though you have thought you were 4 since birth.
It takes a village. I owe a huge thank you to Mary O'Sullivan and Fran for coming over to help entertain this little stinker and to Kelley Comerford for the beautiful floral arrangement she created for the cake! Thank you so very much!!!
This adorable guy was all smiles on his first birthday! He was quite the little ham, laughing and giggling for us. At one point, Jackson even put his hand on his hip and was posing for his pictures. He is something else! I love his toothy grin and his wispy blond hair, such a handsome fella. Jackson was surprisingly dainty while trying cake for the first time. Then, he realized he could flip the stand! Game over. He was covered in icing and wanted nothing more to do with it! Once the cake was properly destroyed, he stood up and clapped for himself! Way to go Jackson!! Hope you had a great first birthday, Buddy!!
Happy, sweet and laid back, Drew is the perfect third child. This easy going little dude is all smiles and giggles. His favorite toys are any that his older siblings are playing with and his rocking giraffe that sings songs as he rides it. I mean, who wouldn't like that?! This guy is happiest when eating table food and currently weighs in at a solid 21lbs. Must be those third born babies...they seem to loooooove real food! He somehow looks exactly like his older brother and sister, who look just like their daddy! Jenny and I were pretty excited that he actually liked the cake, because as combined, we have 4 children who did not love cake at age 1. How is that possible? I have no idea. Well, Drew did pretty nice job on his cake and he had a good time while doing it! Happy 1st Birthday, big guy!!
First of all, I can't believe this little guy is already one. It feels like yesterday, I was taking his newborn photos. Then, he smiles at us, gets up, starts walking and then takes off RUNNING! What?!?!? He also likes to eat on his own, with silverware. Such an independent guy! And I love his baby cheeks! I just want to squeeeeze them!! Declan cut his first two teeth the same week that he began to walk. They grow up so fast!! He will be a very mature big brother to his little sister who is on the way. If anyone is counting, that makes 3 one year olds that I've seen this month with new siblings on the way and due before the fall! :) This happy boy loves balloons, Sesame Street, and laughing at mom and dad when they act silly. Lizzii made his cake and decorated it as his favorite character, Elmo. Look at that cake!! Those are some baking skills. Cake was fun for awhile... until it wasn't! Declan dove right into the black and white icing of Elmo's eyes and seemed to enjoy eating his cake. Then all of a sudden, he was done. I mean really done! Maybe he was upset that his friend Elmo looked strange? Or he realized the icing didn't come off of his hands? We will never know but he was mad at that cake! We didn't traumatize him too much. Declan got cleaned up, grabbed a few snuggles from mom and was quickly back to his happy self!! Happy 1st Birthday sweet boy!
This little girly has quite the personality on her! Ella is totally adorable with those gigantic blue eyes and she knows what she wants. Don't let her fool you. She did not want to sit down! Haha! This experienced crawler was on the move and she is fast! She really kept us on our toes!! Pearls and Puffs made her pause for a few moments before it was time to explore again! On a side note, who invented Puffs? What are these things made of?! They are like a baby's best friend. As a mother of a 7 month old, I certainly understand the power of a Puff and often wonder what parents did before these tiny treats! Back to Miss Ella...this happy girl already has a mouth full of teeth with more on the way. She's also standing up on her own, all before her first birthday. When it was cake time, Ella went right for the icing. That was delicious and kept her still for a few minutes! She may have brought in some pearls for a little added crunch with her new found new sugary concoction. Icing was fun until she figured out she could move the cake. Then, the real fun began as she tried to knock her cake off the stand and mom kept putting it back. Laughs and giggles galore with that game! Happy 1st Birthday Ella, you are such a little sweetheart!!
I am so happy and honored that I get to see all these sweet newborns that I photographed last year again for their first birthdays! It's so great to watch these babies grow! Dylan still has her two toned hair. I love that blond patch on the right side of her head so, so much!! She is such a content little girl. Happy just sitting and taking everything in while sliding her legs back and forth, and giggling. She was terrified of balloons a couple months ago, but she made friends with the mammoth pink birthday balloon below and enjoyed bouncing the beast of balloon all around and sometimes off her head. After a few outfit changes (a girl likes options), it was cake time. Let's just say Dylan enjoyed herself. This girl loves cake. She really got into it and it was amazing! She had cake everywhere, ripped her hat off, cake in the hair, squishing it in between her toes...it was fantastic! She even clapped for herself when she was finished. Well done, Dylan! Well done!!
A little lifestyle, a little maternity, finish with a unicorn theme cake smash...so many milestones for this beautiful family right now! I am so honored to be able to freeze a very small portion of this incredible time in their lives. Baby boy is due in 2 months and Shannon looks ah-mazing. 2 months?! That was not a typo. Her and Joe are such fun parents that simply adore their 1 year old baby girl. Yup, you just did the math! Vaeda is petite and gentle with the most gorgeous, big blue eyes. She loves books, has a soft spot for Puffs and is happy to let mom dress her up and take pictures. I hope Miss Vaeda had a fabulous unicorn themed birthday party and I cannot wait to meet their baby boy!!
I can't believe the sweet little newborn I met last February is already a year old! Time sure flies. At 1 year, Emily is a sweetheart and as adorable as ever with her big, blue eyes and that cute, whispy, baby hair. I have to say, I love a baby in a tutu! Tulle and pearls will never get old for me! Emily is crawling everywhere, standing up and she's constantly on the move. She loves playing with toys, "reading" books and chasing after balls. After a few rounds of of her favorite moves like "so big" and "cheese face", it was time for cake! Mom and I were laughing when Emily dove right into her cake, without hesitation. She was mostly intrigued with the icing, took a few bites and then surprised herself when her hand got stuck and she knocked the whole cake over. After a quick glance at mom to see if it was ok, she was hysterically laughing at the state of the cake. Like most kiddos, smearing the yellow, sticky icing all over was probably Emily's favorite part about cake! Happy Birthday, big girl!! Don't grow up too fast!!!
