I remember the days leading up to the birth of our second baby. The uncertainty. The guilt. Feeling like you are going to crush your first born's whole world. Bringing home your sweet baby, feeling so full of love, and wondering just how your toddler will react to this new little being who will take over their home. Then, something magical happens. Your toddler suddenly falls madly in love with their new sibling. They want to hold the baby, snuggle the baby, feed the baby. And so that sibling bond begins. This is something that moves me to the core. I love seeing it with my own children and I truly hope that they will always be close. I am so grateful that I was able to witness this bond with sweet Brennan and his new sister, Molly. Here are some of my favorites from Molly's in-home newborn session at just 5 days old. Big brother really loved her up!!
A name passed down through four generations
Homage paid to a patron saint
Cultures blended together
Each carefully thought detail
To meet this boy
Bright blue eyes
Faintest of auburn hair
All bundled up
Into this sweet little soul
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting this handsome little boy and his momma. I loved hearing about his story. Below are a few of many favorites from baby Auggie's in-home newborn session!
Motherhood is many things. It is a beautiful bond between a mother and her baby. Sleepless nights and long days filled with exhaustion. A love so deep that it cannot be put into words. Endless piles of laundry and spills in unexpected places. Hours spent holding our babies, gazing into their eyes and taking in their sweet scent. An overwhelming responsibility to guide these tiny humans, while second guessing every decision we make. It is a journey. One that is different for each of us. But the gravity of the title carries a depth that lives on indefinitely. Words of wisdom passed along from mother to child. Traditions kept over generations. As we stumble through this new role, while doing our best to appear graceful as we do, that bit of legacy is not lost upon us. We hope that the lessons we have learned and our own moral compasses will guide the way. That we are somehow capable of completing this journey. And that these little souls that have been left in our care will grow up to be good people, happy, and someday, wonderful mothers and fathers. They may even look back while on their own journey, and draw knowledge from some profound thing we once said or borrowed from a previous generation. We may not ever do it perfectly, but we understand this is a precious gift we have been given and we do our best, each day, to nurture it and help it grow.
Some photos from my session with sweet baby Milah at 4 months and her beautiful momma, shot in Buffalo, NY, are below. I just love witnessing mothers interact with their babies and this one, is a dream baby. And she arrived with her toenails painted pink!! I can't even!! These may be some of my most favorite photos ever!
There is something so satisfying about holding a newborn baby. That aromatic baby scent. Their squishy little faces. The way they fold their tiny bodies into yours and fall into a sound sleep. Perhaps, I am reflecting on these nouances more because I know I won't have a newborn of my own again. Sure, the night feedings, and feedings in general are cumbersome, but this time of constant sleep and minimal movement is fleeting. I am forever happy to meet and hold your precious babies and am so thankful to be able to document this sweet season in your lives. Ruby Lynn was a dream. Below are some of my favorites from her newborn session!
We have known Shannon for awhile now, she watched all of my kiddos at the gym in Buffalo. The boys love her, and she was one of the few people that could manage Tess when she was an infant. The other sitters would call Shannon to find out how to get her to stop crying! I'm sure they miss us there. Haha! Well, now Shannon has a sweet bundle of her own and I was beyond grateful to have the opportunity to meet her adorable little guy.
This sweet boy was such a little character. As soon as we started undressing him, he was happy and smiling. I think we can make this a thing. Minimalist baby pictures. Just bring your baby and a white onesie! If you know me well, you know I love white on white, on white. Throw in those bright baby blues and big smiles, it was magic. So here are a few of my favorite baby pictures, maybe ever. I mean, look at that face!! It really fills my heart to meet and hold your sweet babies. Thank you for trusting me to capture this time in your lives.
Meet Mary's newest addition! Baby Kate!
I finally got to meet her when Mary and her family came to Florida for a visit last week. It was worth the wait. But, she is so much bigger now!! Kate is such an adorable little girl and she is so good! She sleeps through the night and most of the day and only cries when she's hungry. This one, is a baby dream. We had six kiddos playing and sleeping under one roof and this sweet newborn was, by far, the best sleeper of the bunch. Her big sister and brother already adore her and Tess was fascinated by this tiny person that was smaller than her. She learned the word "baby" while Kate was visiting and she would point to Kate and excitedly scream, "Baby, baby, baby!" There were probably a few pokes in there too, as she was very enthusiastic about the baby.
Mary took these portraits! I'm so proud of her!! Book your sessions now..hehe! :)

I had the pleasure of spending the day with this little love, in Buffalo, right before we left for Orlando, FL. Miss Isla is the sweetest baby girl with the most beautiful nursery. I love the white and pale pink decor with gold accents. So pretty!! Jenna did an amazing job making this room both cozy and chic! New parents Jenna and Matt are already super comfortable and so calm and relaxed with their precious little girl. Isla is normally super sleepy, like has to be woken up for feedings and conks out as soon as she nurses, but she decided she wanted to be awake for awhile on this particular day! Baby girl can eat!! Once she was beyond full, she slept right through the whole afternoon. Isla already has such long, dark lashes and chunky baby cheeks. She is SO cute! Hanging with this little dolly will definitely make you want your own newborn, just as adorable and squishy as her!!
There is nothing cuter than doggies and babies and this in-home newborn session has both! Baby Oliver is the sweetest little boy. He is such a good baby for his parents, sleeping soundly most of the time. He's a tiny little thing, tipping the scales at just over 7 lbs. Maybe that just seems tiny to me right now as my baby is currently waddling around in 24mo clothing! Oliver Gray made his debut just a few weeks before Christmas, making the most special gift for the whole family!
So much love for this sweet baby girl! Lace is such a pretty little baby with bright, blue eyes, long blonde lashes and the fairest skin. She has a beautiful, floral nursery with hand made accents created by her mama. It's easy to see that Lindsey and Rob are already so in love with their beautiful baby girl! Baby Lace is a growing girl...she was eating every hour during the day and every 2-3 hours at night. Ahh, I remember those days! Even with little to no sleep, mom and dad are so happy!!
